To get a handle on the Bible – The Bible Project

Start where we pointed you – but have a look around the site. Using this site, you can get a good working knowledge of the story of God, and where you belong in it.

How to pray – 24/7 prayer

Download the "Lectio365" app to your phone and join us for prayer morning and night.

Their website has all sorts of great resources for prayer – including for beginners. We pointed you to the beginner page, but there is heaps more here and a fantastic range of books and other resources. There is also a great course on prayer for teenagers.

Some core understandings. The Learning Portal

We have loaded our Self Paced Learning Guides to the Learning Portal run by our friends at The Fringe Church. When you visit, sign up for a free account which takes only a minute or two. Once inside you will see the menu on the right hand side. Start with the one about Grace.
Feedback on the Book of Revelation notes found on the portal has been amazing. We show you how practical and timely this book is – and why – despite its fearsome reputation – it is unrelenting good news.

How do I make disciples? Discovery Bible Method

You already have friends whose company you enjoy and whith whom you share some pretty deep stuff.    When it's right (only when it's right)  you can ask a simple question:  “I’m looking for someone to read the Bible with. Could we do that together? ”   Heres the cool thing - You don't even have to be a Christian to do this.   Just round up a friend or two and start reading sections of either Mark or Luke.  You will find them in the Table of Contents at the front of your Bible.

We would suggest you find a version of the Bible called "The Good News Bible" if you don't have a better preference.  It's easy to read - and breaks the stories into bite sized peices.   Read sections slowly, see what you see about
  • God,
  • yourself,
  • if there is something you want to do about what you read,
  • and if there is anyone who should know about what you just realised.

Those of us that do this try to keep the Bible reading sessions to a half hour.   It is fascinating to see where our minds go to - and we can while away too much time if we are not careful.

Getting started with Jesus The welcome series

These are some videos to try and help you understand what you might be getting into as you follow Jesus.
We share a learning portal with The Fringe Church.

Spiritual Formation - Ancient Paths

This is our approach to spiritual growth.   Have a look around the site.

A couple of books we enjoyed

Live like Jesus    Putty Putnam  -   has helped many recovering members of the Christian Religion to actually meet this Jesus.

Pagan Christianity -  Frank Viola and George Barna.    This one hurts a bit as you realise how little of what we do in church is actually mandated in scripture or even common sense.

Paul, the Spirit and the People of God - Gordon D fee   This is a bit academic and uses some big words - but it sums up so much of where we are "at" as a church.      Can't recomend it highly enough.

Service Notes : Introduction:

The Christian life to which we are called is a life in Christ, redeemed from sin by Him and
through Him, consecrated to God. We have entered this new life and been admitted to the new
covenant which our Lord Jesus Christ has established by his death and resurrection.
