If you have been worshiping here for six months or longer, we'd like to ask if joining the association is the appropriate next step.

Do I have to be a member?

Association membership is not about your engagement with the ministries or worship at Church.   Non members are welcome to serve in our ministries and belong in the fellowship.    Everyone,  member or not, who serves in the church has to sign off on our Safe Church requirements.

What do members do?

There are only a couple of responsibilities for members.   All of these tasks happen at meetings, most often at the AGM, though special meetings can be called.   This happens infequently when a big opportunity or challenge comes along.

Together with the other members you would

:
• Ratify the annual budget, and any expenses that exceed 10% of what is approved at
the AGM.
• Appoint the Board and the Senior Minister. (You would be able to nominate people to
the Board and be nominated.)
• Consider anything regarded as so important that a members vote is called for by the
Board.

How we behave as members:

Have a look at our values on the website, but always remember:

• We work on a heartfelt consensus. You will see all business coming long before a
meeting. If you have a question or a concern you must raise it straight away. If your question is
worth asking - it's worth answering properly and in conversation. By the time we get to
meetings, we do not accept questions from the floor, and we consider the debate has
been conducted already.

• We are life long learners. We don’t do “rusted on” opinions very well. (John 16)

• We assume you will maintain the unity of the church, and not participate in divsiive or
subversive behaviour. We refer to people like that as assassins and saboteurs. (Eph
4:1-3)

• It’s OK to have a pet theory about anything - but we are a broad church. Please don’t
promote factional beliefs or theology. (1 Tim 4:6)

• Be ready to explain the unique gifts God has given to you, and employ them to build up
the church and help it fulfill God’s purpose. (1 Timothy 4:10,11; 1 Corinthians 14:12.)
