The best decision you'll ever make!
The best decision you'll ever make!
Get oriented
If you haven't already had a look, check out the short videos for people wanting to start with Jesus. There is some helpful information there, and it will spark lots of questions.
Tell a few friends
Like any significant decision, telling people locks it in. When you started that diet - you posted so everyone could encourage you and keep you honest. This is the same. Tell a couple of friends that you just signed up to follow Jesus. For some of you, you may have to wait until the laughter dies away - but tell them that you want them to keep you honest. (Most of them won't have a clue what a Christian even is - but they can smell bad religion a long way away.)
Make at least one new friend
Having a fellow travellor is really great. Appoint someone to be your mentor. This should be an established Christian you like, respect and can be ruthlessly honest with.
If you don't know anyone, get in touch. We can find a great mentor to give you a hand and some company.
Start getting to know Jesus
God's got a book out! Who knew? Get a Bible you can understand. (Ask us about that. Some are easier than others!) Go to the table of contents. Look for a book called "Mark". After that - keep reading the next bit - "Luke". Take it slowly and ask yourself if there is something speaking to you while you read the stories and think about them.
Prayer - the big bit
Prayer is amazing. There is so much to try and learning how to cooperate with God and how he interacts with you will revolutionise your life.
It's probably best to talk to someone about this. There is no "one size fits all" approach. Whatever you do - find 15 minutes a day to start and give that time over to learning to pray.
Baptism
This is how you lock in your relationship to Jesus as Lord. It's good to do this asap. Nothing starts a party in church like a good baptism.
Lets know if we can help.
